Here we go - COVID-19 is still a huge concern and all of us are dealing with the “temporary new normal.” I know this is NOT EASY for you as parents! If you are having a hard time talking to your kids about what’s going on, please check out this document from the National Association of School Psychologists. It’s got a lot of great tips.

The bummer right now is that we ALL need to continue safety protocols and stay-at-home measures. This means lotsa hand washing and being firm with social distancing! I have seen so many of my neighbors not practicing that, both kids and adults, and it seems as if they aren’t taking the virus seriously. It is VERY serious. I know at least 6 people who have had it, and 2 who have died. Please do your part!

The good news right now is that there are so many cool online resources. Here are a few of my local favorites; click on the link for more info:

We are asked to stay home as much as possible but that doesn’t mean life has to be boring! Read books, make art, take walks, bond as a family. And this is a great time to start dreaming about summer! Below are my CAMP PICKS - normalize life by talking to your kids about what they’d like to do a few months from now.

Stay tuned via GISH PICKS for all my CAMP PICKS, coming at you each holiday season. Be sure you’re on my GISH PICKS KIDS email list here and you can also follow all my CAMP PICKS on my Facebook pages here and here! I’ve been researching Houston area DAY CAMPS since 2003 and love finding cool-n-unique ones. I’m all about IGNITING LIVES (see why here) and exploring interests through day camps are a great way to do that.

My heart is with each one of you as you navigate life right now. But there are brighter days ahead. Here’s to a happy, healthy, virus-free summer!
