GISH PICKS!

Hello dear GISH PICKS: CURATED CULTURE FOR KIDS & ADULTS reader!

I know this is a hard time for you - dealing with fears about COVID-19 while also juggling kiddos who are home from school. Take a DEEP breath and know that in the midst of this new, temporary way of life, there is beauty and much to learn. I love these words by Kitty O’Meara: “And the people stayed home. And read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently. And the people healed. And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal. And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed."

We are asked to stay home as much as possible but that doesn’t mean life has to be boring! Read books, make art, take walks, bond as a family. And this is a great time to start dreaming about summer! Below are my CAMP PICKS - normalize life by talking to your kids about what they’d like to do a few months from now.

Stay tuned via GISH PICKS for all my CAMP PICKS, coming at you each holiday season. Be sure you’re on my GISH PICKS KIDS email list here and you can also follow all my CAMP PICKS on my Facebook pages here and here! I’ve been researching Houston area DAY CAMPS since 2003 and love finding cool-n-unique ones. I’m all about IGNITING LIVES (see why here) and exploring interests through day camps are a great way to do that.

My heart is with each one of you as you navigate life right now. But there are brighter days ahead. Here’s to a happy, healthy, virus-free summer!
