GISH PICKS!

Hello dear GISH PICKS: CURATED CULTURE FOR KIDS & ADULTS reader!

Whew! Is it already almost spring break time?! Perhaps you are panicking a bit about what to do with the kiddos (I see you, I hear you!). If you’re not going on a fab vacay, don’t worry - kids can have plenty of fun at the awesome camps and fun events that I recommend below. Check ‘em out and sign ‘em up. Spring break in Houston is March 16-20, so get ready!!! Stay tuned via GISH PICKS for all my CAMP PICKS, coming at you each holiday season (be sure you’re on my GISH PICKS KIDS email list here and you can also follow all my CAMP PICKS on my Facebook page)! I’ve been researching Houston area DAY CAMPS since 2003 and love finding cool-n-unique ones. I’m all about IGNITING LIVES (see why here) and exploring interests through day camps are a great way to do that.

Speaking of exploring, be sure to check out the special Spring Mother/Daughter Weekend at Camp Lantern Creek next weekend (March 6-8). All the deets are below.

Happy spring - may you find much fun for you and your kids!

Campers join their peers for a full rotation of group activities designed to help even the most timid child find the confidence to step onto the stage. The young actors will learn the basics of theatre skills, including what it means to work as an ensemble; how to create and live in a character; how to make and stick to bold choices; spatial awareness and creative movement; how to tell a story with the voice and the body; and how to create a beginning, middle, and end of a story. Each Alley Play Makers session ends with an Open Workshop, which allows parents to glimpse into the camp classroom and gives students the opportunity to show off their new skills. This is not only a chance for young actors to flourish in front of an audience, it’s also an opportunity to include the family in an Alley Play Makers celebration of learning. The dates for Lil’ Play Makers, for 2-4 year olds, will be announced soon!
