THOUGHTS FOR THIS WEEK
Each week that I sit down to write GISH PICKS, it’s a tough process of sorting through literally hundreds of events to PICK just 3 for adults and 3 for families. I love the challenge – and it makes me ever more grateful that we have a city so full of arts and culture! If you are interested in finding even more events, check out my “Cool Community Calendars” page. I’m an info-preneur and want to share with you all that I know. Enjoy!
It’s a busy time for parents as we get ready for end-of-school activities and SUMMER! If you need summer day camps for your kids, doncha worry – I’ve got you covered. Check out my guide, THE SUMMER BOOK® ONLINE: A GUIDE TO HOUSTON DAY CAMPS AND CLASSES FOR KIDS & TEENS at the easy-to-remember website, www.DayCampsHouston.com. You can search through over 200 camps by age, area of town, cost, and much more. There’s a camp for every child, every age, every interest! If you’d like more information about summer camps, I’ll be at the Children’s Museum's first Wednesday “Mommy Mingle” each month – the next one is Wednesday, April 4 from 10am-noon. I’ll have lots of fliers and events information and I’d love to help you out!
This Saturday, March 24, the March for Our Lives Houston is taking place starting at 9am at Tranquillity Park downtown. As a business owner, it’s not always easy to take a stand for fear that customers might have differing opinions. Some of you may not agree with me because I’m planning on being at the March – and that is OK because this is a complicated issue. I hope you’ll stay here even if you disagree! That’s the beauty of the United States – we each can have our own opinions. If you’re opposed to the March, feel free to email me why and let’s talk in a positive way. I’m going because my younger son is in high school and I fear for his life daily. I believe it’s time for our country to get a grip on gun control and to end the government’s relationship with the National Rifle Association of America. This doesn’t mean taking away all guns but it does mean looking at solutions that make sense.
The weather should be great this weekend! I’ve PICK-ed three festivals and a couple of poetry even...plus some theatre and music. I’ve also got info on the upcoming (next Wednesday, March 28) “Table Talk” that benefits the Friends of Women. Enjoy, enjoy!
Have a great weekend and please love one another, please share this, and please – go IGNITE YOUR LIFE!
